HELP! My computer was stolen, now I can't edit my own files

I have no idea what to do. My computer was stolen. I can tell that it is online, but that is all I know about its use. The files I have on office live workspace are still there, but I can't edit them. They need to be edited with the original application that created them. I went from Vista to XP with a borrowed computer. Anyone have any ideas what I can do?

Well the first thing I would do is change your Windows Live ID password by clicking on the “Reset Password” link.  Or you can obviously do this directly from inside your Windows Live account. Have you already done this?

Then let’s take it from there. I’m curious what indicates that your computer that was stolen is currently online? Why can you not open the files? Were they saved in a newer version of Microsoft Office than you are now using? If so, you will probably need the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats.  If this helps then great, if not, please post another more detailed report and I am sure one of us can help you through this.

I did change my password. I will try to download the compatibility pack. Thanks for that idea. I know that the stolen computer is on line because it is part of my Windows Live Care circle.

OK Nancy how are things going with this, what’s the scoop?  Just wanted to check in on you to see how you were doing with this.  Have you had a chance to try the compatibility pack, and if so did it work?  Concerning your “Windows Live Care circle”, what do you use to login to this, don’t you use your Windows Live ID, and if you changed the password you should not see the stolen computer online anymore right?  Anyway, I just wanted to see how you were doing, what can I say I was worried about youJ.
