Contact List and sharing.

Hi there, I'm Julie, one of the French-language OLW moderators. One of our users is wondering if you can use a contact list within OLW as a source for email addresses to share documents or the workspace. I, myself, have tried to do so, but it doesn't seem to give me an option of which list, and addresses are missing. I guess my major question here is... where is source of the addresses displayed when clicking on the address book icon on the sharing screen, and how can I modify that?

Thanks for any help!

Re: Contact List and sharing.

Hi Julie,

The addresses in the sharing panel is sourced from the user's address book in hotmail. In addition to the email address listing from the address book, it also shows emails that the user has shared items with previously in OLW.

If you want to prepopulate the contact list in the sharing panel, you can add the email addresses to the hotmail address book and they will automatically show up in Office Live Workspaces sharing panel the next time you login.

 Thanks,
Ajoy

Re: Contact List and sharing.

Hi, Ajoy, thanks for your response. :) It's greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, it's not terribly helpful for my user. :/ As not all OLW accounts have a linked Hotmail account (one can sign up with any email address from any provider), he has not Hotmail address book to draw from for the Windows Live Address Book being used by OLW. I, myself, tried to link a Hotmail address with my Windows Live ID, but the addresses I entered in that Hotmail account never showed up in my OLW.

Thanks again for the reply, though, it helped to confirm my own suspicions on how exactly that worked. :)

Re: Contact List and sharing.

Hello everyone,

Not exactly the same question but the topic is quite the same : is there a way to import Contacts from Exchange 2007 directly into OLW?

Thanks in advance !

Re: Contact List and sharing.

Hi Antoine.

Yes, you can connect a "Contact List" from a workspace to Outlook 2007. Just create a new Contact List in OLW and click the "Connect to Outlook" button. This creates a contact folder in Outlook 2007. At that point, you can import/copy/paste contacts into the contact store in Outlook. Changes you make on the web site sync back to Outlook and vice-versa.

Same thing with Event List - it can sync with Outlook Calendar. For sake of completeness, "Task List" also sync with Outlook.

Please let me know if this answered your question.
