Live update woes

 Got a problem installing office live update...

 when I try to install it, i get a message to install saying I need to update windows live sign in assistant.. this fails everytime, and I can't un-install this as its says the ms installer package is missing..., although if I re-install it, I end up with two copies in the add/remove window...
