Unable to share documents

When I try and share a file to View or Edit it shows shared but no E-Mail is sent.  I have tried work and private E-mail accounts and still get nothing.  What am I missing?

Re: Unable to share documents

rrm,

I just tried the sharing feature and noticed that the email arrived after a few minutes.  I shared to a hotmail address and a private address.  If you are still having issues, please reply and let us know...

Re: Unable to share documents

I received your E-Mail but was unable to respond back.

I received all the share request today (Jan 10).

I logged on and retried again and everything is now working fine.  Must of just been a hic-up.

Thanks for your response.

Re: Unable to share documents

Hmm, so by your estimate it took the email a day to come through?

Re: Unable to share documents

Oscar,

I have not signed up yet, but was wondering if document check-out, check-in is provided as a means to manage versioning? I see from other posts that users are given the option to read only if the doc is already open by another user. Is that the gist of how it works?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Unable to share documents

Hi rgusaas... From what I can tell, if you are using a "known application" (e.g. Word, Excel, Powerpoint) then there is an automatic checkout feature whenever someone opens the document for editing from within Workspace.  But I don't know of anyway to "checkout" a document for local editing.  It would be a great feature to have - and is really a requirement when dealing with "unknown" applications.  Otherwise you could have two people editing the document at the same time and end up with conflicts.

Hopefully document checkout will be something the Workspace team will add.  It would be nice if they also checked out the document and opened it in your local editing program of choice.

Re: Unable to share documents

Help.

I shared a workspace and a worksheet with a few collaborators.  They're able to see that the document are shared with them when they log on to the Live Workspace website.  But when they sign in through Excel, they're unable to see the documents shared with them, therefore couldn't edit the documents.

 Please advise

Re: Unable to share documents

Hi Paul,

Unfortunately, this is a known limitation in the Office Live Add-in.  As a workaround, if your sharees log in through OLW and click on "Edit", the document should load as long as they are an Editor.  This will also place a link to the document in their "recent files" list so that they can load it directly from within Office in the future.

Re: Unable to share documents

The edit button does not appear for me.

I believe at one point it did.  Right next to the save button.  But now the edit button doesn't appear on mine or anyone else's.

Edit:  Ok, got it to work.  Just needed to use Internet Explorer instead of Mozilla.
