Sharing parts of workspace

Hello,

Is there a way to share certain documents within a workspace with someone, but not the whole thing?  There are several excel sheets that I'd like people to work on.  Each person would enter his/her data and the final number is calculated and feed into a master workbook.  The only way I could link data between workbooks is by putting all of the workbooks in one workspace.  However, I don't want to give editor rights or even view rights to everyone on every document (just the documents that they need to edit).  Is there any way I can achieve that?

If there isn't a way to do this, is there another Microsoft product that can?

Thanks,

Paul

Re: Sharing parts of workspace

No, you can only share entire workspaces.

However, you can share any inividual document from the "Documents" workspace.

Re: Sharing parts of workspace

 Thanks,

Currently I'm having trouble sharing documents when I upload them to "documents."

Paul Huang in another thread:
They're able to see that the document are shared with them when they log on to the Live Workspace website.  But when they sign in through Excel, they're unable to see the documents shared with them, therefore couldn't edit the documents.

They can see the workspaces shared with them, but not the documents shared with them when they're uploaded to "documents"

Re: Sharing parts of workspace

Hi,

In my opinion, there is a need for sharing individual documents. Just like in GoogleDocs. I use the workspaces to organize documents. (in the absence of folders :) and I often needs the opportunity to share only one document for review and edit with some other colleague. But I don't want to share the workspace with him.

I then have to create a new workspace and move the document there and then sharing that workspace with my colleague. But then my document is'nt placed in the correct workspace with all other related documents.

So I have choosen to "copy" (saving to desktop and upload to new workspace - in the absence of a copy function) the document to get able to have the document staying in the logical workspace, but also making this particular document available for editing by another colleague. After his editing is finished, I will "copy" it back to it's original workspace. But before that, any changes made to both documents I will merge manually. :(

Yeah, I could really use sharing of documents. :)

I know I can share documents in the Documents Workspace. But I still have to move the document away from it's project workspace. And that complicates the way we work on our projects.
