Signing in to Office Live Workspace

Hello There

For some time now I have attempted to sign into Office Live.

However on each occasion the web page opens OK, indicates I have logged in correctly, but then the window (and all of IE 7) hangs with one or two files to download.

I then have to use Task manager to close the screen down.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi divingdoc50,

Just a quick note to let you know that I've passed your question on to the Office Live team. Someone will be responding to your question soon.

In the mean time, are you still encountering the same problem?

it would be nice to have tutorials on each little thing using the words "tutorial" and "syntax" along with every topic

I also have the same problem using IE6 from a work machine at one organisation but am fine from home or when temporarily based at other organisations. Advice would be most welcomed.

I have checked thatthe java scripting is enabled as advised. Could this be a firewall issue?

Are other users in this thread also trying to do it behind firewalls?  have you tried otherwise?

Re: Signing in to Office Live Workspace

I'm having the same problem on 2 computers with IE6, but I'm not having the problem with my computer that has IE7. Has anyone received advice? The two computers that use IE6 are also using a wireless N connection, but they were able to log into Office Live Workspace back in April.

Re: Signing in to Office Live Workspace

I recently removed a ZoneAlarm firewall, and am now able to access the English Workspace with IE7.  That was previously hanging with the green wheel turning round and round.  I'm not 100% positive the problem was the firewall, but that is my guess at this moment.  I had ZoneAlarm 7.0.470.  I have not tried version 7.0.473 yet.

However, Firefox 2.0.0.14 still shows a version incompatibility page for me.  I did install an extension recommended in another forum, User Agent Switcher, but that did not seem to help for me.

I'm on WinXP Home 2002 SP2.

Re: Signing in to Office Live Workspace

I downloaded the Mozilla Firefox browser (V 2.0.0.14) and am now able to access my Office Live Workspace using Firefox on the two computers mentioned in my previous post.

Re: Signing in to Office Live Workspace

I experience the same issue. It is intermittent and causes all browser sessions to become unusable. I am using IE 6.0.29 behind a corporate firewall. I would really like this to become stable so I can use it. Unfortunately, I will have to find another way until this is resolved.

Is anyone aware of some alternative products out there. I've looked at Sky Drive and Google Documents but they each have their own shortcomings.

Thanks.

Re: Signing in to Office Live Workspace

I also have Windows XP and the same happened to me. After shuting down with Task Manager, all my windows shut down and I had to begin all over again.

I sent a message to the Office Team regarding this issue and this is what the team member suggested I do.

Dear Customer,

Hello, I'm Jorge with the Microsoft Office Live support team. I received your support request in regards to accessing your website. I understand this has caused some concerns and I'll be sure to assist you as much as possible.

I have reviewed your account and have not seen any issues with it; however, when I went to your site it did freeze Internet Explorer, I would suggest to review the content of the pages on your home page and try to remove certain content that you might have put on last. If that resolves the issue let us know. Otherwise, if the issue persists please provide the information below and we would also need authorization to access your account and reproduce the issue and check the website content.

I removed 3 of my flash movies which took care of the problem and allowed my page to fully download. The following day, I inserted the Flash movies again, everything downloaded and my site opens up. All is well now.

Hope this helps solve your issue.

Re: Signing in to Office Live Workspace

In regards to UnScene's last reply, it sounds like that was referring to an Office Live Small Business page with flash movies that were preventing a page to load. This thread is specifically addressing Office Live Workspace issues.

Check out http://officeliveworkspacecommunity.com/forums/p/981/2912.aspx#2912 for my requests to other users that come across this issue. From that thread:

I wanted to double check with you that you also cleared the temporary internet files. If you haven't, please do so and try agin. If it is still failing after that, send the the following information:

  • I was curious do you see any yellow triangle icons in the bottom left of IE when this happens? If so, double click the icon and send the error to me.
  • Do you have any toolbars installed?
  • Finally, while sending the error message from bullet #1 would be helpful, the best is to capture a trace of what is happening between Office Live Workspace and your computer. The easiest way to do this is to install a program called Fiddler from http://www.fiddlertool.com/fiddler/. After installation, capture (start) a trace, reproduce the problem, and send the trace to me via private message.

Chris

Re: Signing in to Office Live Workspace

After reading Chris' post I decided to try OLW with IE (6) again, but also removing some of the buttons in my Yahoo and Google toolbars. I have been able to use the OLW since doing that. I removed the Games, Mail alert and Spy blocker buttons.

Re: Signing in to Office Live Workspace

If you are facing issues while accessing OLW using IE 6, I suggest you to download IE7, it will resolve your issue.
