I go to install the office live updated and get an error:

"Incorrect function. "

Hi Matthew,

The specific patch you are trying to install is the Vista April Security update for Internet Explorer.  It contains a rollup of patches for IE and will patch Internet Explorer 5.01, Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 7.  Please make sure that you have a supported version of Internet Explorer on the system.   

The easiest way to avoid this issue is to go to Windows Update and make sure that you have installed all critical and important updates before you install the Office Live Update.  Office Live Update will detect that it is already installed and skip over this patch.

 That could indicate a filesystem incosistancy; try running chkdsk /f in a Command Prompt.

 Have you recently changed drive letters or removed a disk?
